Everyone knows of at least one example of a road which has been dug up once, at significant expense and inconvenience to all, only to see the same road dug up again only weeks or months later by different contractor.

Trifecta’s breakthrough Works Collaboration and Co-ordination tool – Worksview – is designed to reduce this pattern and to support the Dig Once! Initiatives of cities and regions around the world. This breakthrough solution offers Local Authorities, utility companies and contractors a single mapping interface with which to identify opportunities and conflicts across their forward works programmes

Worksview operates as a ‘dating service’ for organisations working on the roading corridor by emailing project owners as soon a new project conflict or opportunity presents itself, thereby fostering collaboration and co-ordination as a means to reduce costs and inconvenience to all.

The example to the left highlights how both a Water project and a Roading project are planned during 2012 along this stretch of road. By using Workview both contractors will become aware of each other’s projects and are prompted to look at working together to reduce cost and disruption to road users. The result in this case was that the Roading signal upgrade project was delayed by 3 months to enable completion of the water main upgrade BEFORE the laying of new traffic loops and seal around the intersection, saving thousands of dollars and extending the life of the road surface.
